KCBA Two Wood Competition
On the morning of Sunday 18th May, 24 hopeful Medway bowlers arrived at Civil Service Bowls Club to play the early rounds of the men’s KCBA two wood competition. By the time the players had been whittled down to only 8, more than half of those left in were representing Chatham Bowling Club. 3 of the last 4 players fighting it out for places in the Divisional semi-finals were from CBC. Paul Simmons (CBC) played Geoff Gough (CBC) in a match which was closely fought all the way through. Each player was in front at different stages of the game, but neither could build a winning lead. In the final end it was Geoff who triumphed
In the other match Trevor Skinner (CBC) played Al Robinson (Rochester BC). Trevor started slowly, finding it difficult to find a line and length, and Al went well ahead. However, in the second half of the game Trevor slowly clawed his way back and drew level on the 20th end. He then won the 21st end to go in to the lead for the first time and clinch the match.
Both Geoff and Trevor now go forward to represent CBC in the Divisional Semi-finals in July.
