A Chatham team of Charles Walker, Colin Herbert, Trevor Walker and David Turner (skip) played in the Chelmsford Men's Fours Tournament on Sunday 19th July.

After three good wins in their first three games, they were in third place on 44 points, and only 3 points behind the leaders. They therefore stood a good chance of winning the competition if they won well in their final game. Their final game was against Southminster, who were at that time in second place. After a bad start, dropping a 4 on the first end, they pulled back to 4 all and went into the final end, just 1 shot behind, 6 to 7.

When the skips came to bowl, Chatham were holding the 1 they needed to draw. Chatham skip David Turner just missed getting the second wood as well with his last wood and it was therefore all on the Southminster skip's last wood to decide the outcome of the match. Unfortunately for Chatham, he just managed to get their shot wood out of the head to pick up 3 shots to not only win the game but the competition overall.

Chatham slipped down to fifth place, but still took home prize money of £32 - just about enough to cover the petrol money and the toll charges at Dartford. Overall a very enjoyable day. They hope to be back for another go next year.
