This event got off to a fairly chaotic start due to the late withdrawal and non-arrival of several members who had previously committed themselves to play. As we needed an even number of teams to play, three people who had agreed to step in at the last minute to replace people who had already withdrawn before the day had to be asked to stand down again.

Thanks must go to these people for their understanding – particularly Reg Bunn who stepped in that morning and cycled to the club, only to be told when he got there that he was no longer needed!

Those people who did played enjoyed a day’s bowling in glorious sunshine, although some people found that four games of 11 ends was a little bit too much. Thanks must go to Sylvia Pidduck and her team of helpers for providing an excellent lunch to revive everybody after 22 ends, in preparation for the next 22.

Following the successful change of format last year, the competition was once again played on a league basis to decide which four teams would go through to the semi-finals in August. The final placings were as follows:-

These are due to be played on 11th August, or on another date by mutual agreement. The two winning teams will then play each other on finals day to decide the eventual winners.
