It seems that the Book Society used to play against other clubs as well as Chatham. No idea when this dates to, but would guess 1930s? Although it didn't involve Chatham, it was played on our green. This was an Annual Match similar to the Bulley Cup that fell by the wayside for a reason lost in the mists of time. The Book Society still have the splendid Reeves Trophy and it is now played for as one of the Book Society's Annual golf days.

The Chatham Bowling Cup (presumably the Chatham Cup) competition in 1920 - Chatham v Gillingham. The picture looks to be taken from outside the clubhouse looking towards the park. The tent/marquee is where the car park is now.
